I look forward to every aspect of my life changing... 24/7... there is so much of my life that is affected by my weight. Sleeping, sitting, walking, just moving in general. Getting dressed in the morning. I seem to pull everything out of my closet, hate the way it looks, end up putting on the frumpiest thing I have since surely, it must conceal the fact that I weigh 300 pounds!!! ha ha..

I would like to be able to get in and out of our car without grunting. I would like to sit on my couch without it sighing. I too would like to wear shorts when it is 100 degrees outside instead of keeping my long pants on to cover my legs. A short-sleeved shirt would be nice also. oh, and you know on TV and stuff when the guy puts his arms around his woman and his arms really go around her and just about end up on the opposite side?, yeah, that would be nice too.... currently, my husband's arms are not long enough to even have his hands meet... sigh....

That was too funny! I have a stemmed rose on my left breast... the stem has gotten real long over the years! now it is a long-stemmed rose... never even thought about it not being a long-stemmed rose after I manage to get breast surgery!

Tatto? yeah, I want a portrait of my daughters on my arm but don't want the tatoo to end up like one of those ink doodles on a stretched out rubber band after you let it go

. . . hearing, "you've lost weight!"
. . . having more room on my lap for my children. . .
. . . an easier summer because I won't be so heavy. . .

Here's an update on my short-term goals, as I keep a promise to myself to celebrate the small victories:
in the 220's:check (as of today!)
hearing YLW!: check (yesterday!--one person had asked before, but this was a confident statement)
more options, better fit in clothes: check
more lap, more energy for my kids: check

I'd like to add a few to my list.

I'm looking forward to. . .
. . . making it to my 25% milestone. . .
. . . having my half-slip fall smoothly from my waist (25 pounds ago, it would climb up and bunch around my waist some days) . . .
. . . my TDK pants being loose enough for me to move freely in. . .
. . . wearing jeans. . .
. . . moving with more energy and grace during the spring climb up the hill behind the school with my Jr. High students than I did in the autumn hike. . .
. . . making it into the 210's. . .
. . . my birthday in 8 weeks, when I celebrate the progress made towards my `50xfifty' goal,' whatever it prove to be. . .
. . . the biggiest of mini-goals, Onederland
. . . and again, a more comfortable and fun summer because of the weight loss. . .

So, what are you looking forward to?

Alot of what was mentioned earlier...but one more thing..

Taking a bath without getting stuck in the tub from the suction when I lay back! Getting out sounds like someone got shot....and that was 30 lbs or so ago, I cant even imagine now.

Smile My dreams

Being able to play with my Granddaughter on the floor.

Being able to walk my dog.

The ability to buy my clothes somewhere other than Laine Bryant.

Having little children walk by me without staring.

Having adults walk by me without sneering.

Walking into a store and not having the male clerks avoid me like the plague.

Going to the pool with my granddaughter and playing.

Working in my garden without huffing and puffing.

Being able to sit anywhere I want and not have someone say,"Oh here, let me get you another chair. That one is an antique."

Just being myself and not hiding in a corner when we go somewhere.

Great thread. I'm glad I found it. Caroline

Ouch. Oh yeah, didn't know anyone else had been through that charming experience: "let's consider that a `little people' chair." Twenty years later it's still a tender spot.

I'm glad you found this thread, too.

Wearing tank tops again, so I can show off my tattoos!
Crossing my legs.
Dancing longer.
Walking more gracefully.
Regaining my former strength.

Another update:

25% mark: check

Half slip still slides up above my waist, but it's fitting bettter.

TDK pants aren't loose, but I did wear them to class last night for the first time.

Tried on my size 18 pants this morning to see how far up my legs they would come. Over the thighs, over the hips, over the butt, and only about 4" from buttoning!!!! Tried on some 22's that were hanging in the closet (until they would fit, and they are too big around the waist to wear.

Spring hill climb is still two months away, so I've got more time to make that goal.

Getting into the 210's is less than 5 pounds away!

Onederland is starting to seem more and more possible.

One thing I am looking forward to is going to a specialist and not have the only thing they say is "lose weight."

I have a wonderful doctor who doesn't dwell on my obesity, but tries to get to the root cause of things. Years ago he sent me to an allergist for the daily headaches I was having. He found literature for me about osteoarthritis and prescribed some medication to help the pain.

When xrays didn't show much wrong with my foot that was really aching, he sent me to an orthopedic specialist. He twisted my foot around and said to lose weight. Well, duh! yeah, but my foot still hurts. So I'm going back to my primary doc. sheesh.

Well, I've had some big accomplishments already, I can cross my legs. I can shop anywhere with plus sizes (I was too big for most plus sized stores in Canada, had to go to the US to shop), I can actually squat down and get back up, I can climb the two flights of stairs to my office without getting winded, I can wear high heels again without my feet killing me.

But... I still want to be able to kiss those miserable plus sized stores goodbye forever. I want to be able to take a bath without being too big for our standard sized tub. I want to be able to tuck in my shirt and have it look good. I want to be able to buy boots that cover my calves (I have fat calves). I want to be able to wear more, higher heels. I want to look good in lingerie, not just clothes.

I'm looking forward to...

~ Not being on medication for diabetes any more

~ Not having to scan a room for a seat I will be comfortable in and still be able to get out of in less than 5 moves

~ Being able to cross my legs

~ Being able to wear high heels with out looking like an elephant on stilts

~ Having my son's arms go completely around me in a hug

~ Getting my cabaret bellydance outfit instead of a baladi

~ Finally accomplishing something my sister couldn't

~ Being proud of what I see in the mirror instead of crying in shame

~ Being able to encourage someone else, by example, of what they can do to with weight loss
