Looking into the idea of HIIT, just to add a little more intensity to my workouts. My normal "40 min - 3 mile" workout with a couple of intervals just gets boring. As I started to look into HIIT I realized that interval training is good but I really need to up my intervals to get more of a benefit. Yesterday and today I was able to keep a steady 5 mph jog with 30 secs of faster running, yesterday I was at 6.5, today I bumped it up to 7.5 - it felt good, my legs had pretty much no feeling left after 15 mins of intervals. I did complete a cool down for a total of 30 minutes but I could tell I got a good workout.
I will probably end up doing more of a steady 5 mph jog tomorrow and then try HIIT on Wed and Fri. I hope to run some 5K's this Spring so hopefully this will help...I cannot wait until it warms up so I can hit the road with my ipod!
