Thanks for the idea! I am actually doing them right now, just put them in the oven!! Really gave me a good use for a lot of bacon that I had! I will let you know how I like them.

This sounds great, I will try it next time I go grocery shopping.

I've made cabbage rolls with ground beef before. I make a mixture of ground beef and seasonings, uncooked. I boil the entire head of lettuce for a few minutes to soften it up. I slowly and carfully peel the leaves off trying to keep them whole. I scoop the meat/seasoning mixture into the leave, fold the leaf over it like a burrito and place a toothpick to hold it closed. After you've done this to all of them, bake them in a covered casserole dish at 350 for about an hour (or until done). I've also seen people cook them in a large port of a tomato gravy. Either way, we LOVE them.

Question, while this recipe sounds fun and yummy, we do often cook cabbage with bacon for flavoring. Is that something that's mostly a southern thing? Bacon is the BEST flavor for cabbage, so it's customary down here that a pot of cabbage will also contain bacon. I'm curious?

So 2 hous at 425....and my bacon is still soft and limp?

I turned the oven to 450 and going to leave in for another 20 mins or so and see if that helps.

Is it in foil? Maybe the last few min take the foil off and let the bacon get crispy?? Seems like more work but it might help

I left it in for another 20 mins or so and then I was starving and took it out...bacon was still limp.

I did leave it tightly wrapped in foil the whole time, but it's actually pretty good, even if the bacon isn't crispy. I never knew that I liked cabbage so much!

I might try different bacon next time, but overall they were delicious!

i just made some cabbage rolls and had some leftover cabbage, so i made some "mini" versions of these.... just a tiny chunk of cabbage wrapped in a half piece of bacon, salt/pepper and foil, too. i imagine that these tiny ones will cook faster, so i'll check them when i take the cabbage rolls out. thank you so much for the idea!!
