Hi Mudd,
Fistly, I don't need to go into the hospital on Friday for radioactive iodine treatment. When the hospital rang at lunch time they said that the oncologist wanted me to go in to give a blood sample, either today or tomorrow and that once that was done I could resume my normal diet and then the thyroxine. I decided to go in today which means that I resume thyroxine tomorrow. They wanted the blood to send off to Birmingham (about 180 miles away) for a special sort of test to be done to check on the thyroglobulin levels. They check the thyroglobulin from time to time to see if the tiny piece of thyroid tissue I have left (all 2mm of it) is trying to regenerate. If the thyroglobulin levels are increasing it suggests that the thyroid tissue is trying to regenerate and they will up the dosage of thyroxine.
They didn't have any better luck getting the blood today than they did last Wednesday. If anything it was worse as my hands were cold. I ended up with them having to take it out of the backs of both hands I've got a bruise on each hand now So, from tomorrow I can start back on my drugs and then the fun really starts as my body will be totally confused.
I didn't get the things done today that I'd planned to do so hopefully tomorrow. TOM has decided to appear again - after 2 weeks What with being tired and irritable due to lack of thyroxine this is all I need. I'm not very pleasant to live with at present
Catch you tomorrow.
