Hi Mudd,

Fistly, I don't need to go into the hospital on Friday for radioactive iodine treatment. When the hospital rang at lunch time they said that the oncologist wanted me to go in to give a blood sample, either today or tomorrow and that once that was done I could resume my normal diet and then the thyroxine. I decided to go in today which means that I resume thyroxine tomorrow. They wanted the blood to send off to Birmingham (about 180 miles away) for a special sort of test to be done to check on the thyroglobulin levels. They check the thyroglobulin from time to time to see if the tiny piece of thyroid tissue I have left (all 2mm of it) is trying to regenerate. If the thyroglobulin levels are increasing it suggests that the thyroid tissue is trying to regenerate and they will up the dosage of thyroxine.

They didn't have any better luck getting the blood today than they did last Wednesday. If anything it was worse as my hands were cold. I ended up with them having to take it out of the backs of both hands I've got a bruise on each hand now So, from tomorrow I can start back on my drugs and then the fun really starts as my body will be totally confused.

I didn't get the things done today that I'd planned to do so hopefully tomorrow. TOM has decided to appear again - after 2 weeks What with being tired and irritable due to lack of thyroxine this is all I need. I'm not very pleasant to live with at present

Catch you tomorrow.

Hug

Hi Mudd,

How're things with you? I haven't seen you around in a few days but I know you are really busy right now.

Derek and I went over to a pub called the Boatside at Warden, near Hexham in Northumberland for lunch today. We met up with Chris and Ken who we last saw in November 2005 when we were on the cruise. To say they got a bit of a shock when they saw the new me would be an understatement They knew I'd lost some weight but not how much. I had my new (UK ) size 10 jeans on and felt great. We had a lovely lunch. I had Aberdeen Angus roast beef for a main course and a passion fruit dessert

We are hoping the meet up with Chris and Ken and the rest of the group around Easter next year. We met in 1995 on a holiday to Cuba. That was the same holiday where Derek and I met. We had both gone on our own and were "introduced" by a woman who thought of herself as a bit of a matchmaker. I think on that occasion she was right

Other than having lunch, we haven't done a great deal today. The weather has turned very windy again and heavy rain is forecast. It's the sort of weather that just makes you want to stay in the house

Tomorrw I'm meeting some of the girls from work to exchange Christmas cards and we'll have a coffee.

Catch up with you tomorrow.

Hugs

Hi Mudd,

Sorry I've been MIA for a few days. I have popped in a couple of times but didn't have much of a chance to post and catch up.

So, what have I been up to? Not a huge amount really. I met some of the girls from work on Monday and we exchanged Christmas cards and caught up. Helen, my supervisor has decided that she is going to resign as the thought of coming back to work is just too much to bear. She is currently off work with stress and depression. She has over 28 years service and it is a shame that this has been forced on her because the powers that be wouldn't give her any support when she asked for it. In the end she had a break-down and just can't face coming back. She is considering taking legal action but says that the mental anguish that would entail would probably be too much for her too. We will keep in touch though. Our Superintendent has already told her that she doesn't know what she's talking about and that she is "confused" and there isn't a problem in the department! I sometimes wonder if he's working in the same place we are. Bear in mind that an Inspector on one of the other shifts at our southern control room recently hung himself when off with stress! Granted he also had personal problems at home but some were work induced.

I met my friend Lyn yesterday. We had a glass of Champagne and a warm scone as a treat seeing as we wouldn't see each other before Christmas. It was very nice and only slightly indulgent

Derek and I called in at the pub last night. I was on the water and Derek's one drink turned into about 6 or 7 as Nick and Dave came in. I didn't mind drinking water all night and at least I had a clear head this morning. Derek was in the bad books as he knocked one of my cat ornaments off the fireplace when he was turning the gas fire on when he came in last night and it broke an ear and its tail He then tried to shoo me out of the room so I wouldn't see it - like I hadn't heard him swear or heard the crash!

We had the car serviced yesterday and then it went in for it's MOT which it passed

Derek is going up to Hawick tomorrow to check the property that he has rented out up there and do some odds and ends. I'll probably stay at home and do some tidying up etc.

Catch you tomorrow.

Hugs

Hi Mudd,

Derek went up to Hawick this morning and I have had quite a lazy day. I was pretty tired so I went back to bed and didn't wake up until late. I've done some odds and ends and then my mother and her friend called round unexpectedly for a cup of tea on their way back from their day out.

I've watched the semi-final of Strictly Come Dancing and it will be very difficult to decide who goes out this week, the three remaining couples were all really good.

Derek has just come back and has put the new door handles on and fixed the mirror on the wall in the bathroom. He has also done some tiling in the kitchen.

Catch you tomorrow.

Hugs
