Default Taco Shells

I found a few of these La Tiara taco shells for sale on ebay, but they are only available for shipping in the U.S. Does anybody know how I can get some of these here in Canada? A website that sells them, or is there somebody that is willing to accept paypal and can send me some?

Thanks!

Jen

Default La Tierra Taco Shells 1 Net Carb?

Does anyone know if the nutritional info on these is correct? They say 4 grams of carbs per shell and 3 grams of fiber which would = 1 Net gram of carbs. However, I'm skeptical, every other taco shell I've seen has at least 14 grams of carbs. The La Tierra "yellow corn" are the ones in question. I checked the ingredients of the others some said "white corn" other just "corn" none had "yellow corn" can that make that big of a difference? 10 - 20 gram carb difference? Hmmm????

Thanks for any info!

- Mike

Here is why they are low carb. They are as thin as paper but they are real corn shells and taste like them too. The trick is to put your meat toppings in them and let them sit for about 5 mins before you eat them. This softens them up just enough so they don't break after the first bite.

They are also great for nachos and taco salads. I order them by the case on ebay.

I used to drink Baja Bobs. It is ok but it is expensive and it's more sweet than sour.

I forgot on my last post that the lime jello to use is the SF version lol.

I'm confused. I just came from the supermarket and the taco shells there are not much higher than these. Someone said all the shells she'd seen were at least 14g, but all the brands I looked at had only 6 or 7 g per shell, and were only about 3-4 net carbs

You have to pay attention to the box because they list the carbs per 3 shell serving, whereas the La Tiara shells advertise the carbs per 1 shell serving.

The biggest difference is that the supermarket shells are between 99 cents and $1.29 (locally) where the La Tiara are about $3.50 plus shipping, I've seen them to as high as $10 total per box on ebay.

The tacho shells you are referring to -- are they in a a white box, and come and yellow or white corn?

If so, they may be the ones that are made in Kansas City.

I never thought to check the carb count. They are very think and crispy, the only ones my sweetie will eat.

Default taco shells

I buy them from ebay and I love them!

I've seen some post about hidden carbs etc but I eat them like crazy and still lose weight...matter fact I have lost more weight since I've been eating them than pre-shells.

I had my doubts about IslandGirl's conclusions regarding the Hidden Carb Inspector so I figured I would go to the expert. I asked Tamarian and received his response in this thread: http://forum.lowcarber.org/showthre...241#post1549241

As you will see, he agrees that the Actual Carb Count generated by the Inspector is Total Carbs, from which you can deduct the fiber grams, for a net carb count of 1.09 per taco shell...

Thanks ever so much for doing that. I didn't want to have to give them up. I'm already on medication that is slowing down the weight loss, this is my second time around on LCWOL and few years ago when I did it I lost like crazy...now it's a struggle for every ounce.

Default La Tiara Low Carb Taco Shells

The La Tiara Taco Shells no longer come in 1g net carb, only 4g net carbs per shell and they are truly D-E-L-I-C-I-O-U-S! Gladstone Food Products changed the nutrition information several months ago and all of the shells contain the same carb count.

In case anyone is still looking for these, I do have some, but all the low carb websites seem to be out of them, or they claim that they are discontinued, which they aren't. I can only get them in 12 and 36ct boxes.

Hi, Old El Paso shells are real close to the same carb count, and they have mini shells too. Click on this link, it will take you right there to the nutrition information. when you get there, scroll down to the shells.
