There seems to be quite a few people that join this forum, make a few inflammatory comments, then vacate. I'm curious as to whether they actually think this tactic is an effective way to change anyones perceptions?

I you eat nothing but meat you will be sorry like my friends. This is not a joke.

First it's your 'friend' then it's your 'friends' ---sorry, but something's fishy...
sorry, there's that pesky meat again....

If you're truly concerened and want to send out an alert, remember that the people on this forum have had remarkably signifigant health imporvements, lower cholesteral, lower blood pressure, lower weight, some have even reversed thier diabetes, IBS, etc, etc, and what's more, we all have hope for a longer happier, more fulfilling way of life!

Perhaps you should post on another WOE forum; you might get more support there.

EAT YOUR VEGGIES!

I agree to an extent that meat is a culprit (if you eat too much).
Meat has too many additives in it!
I would get organic meat or corn fed meat if my health was at risk for some reason.
( I am now going to raise my own birds for meat and eggs)
I know the "meat" is not making us sick; some people are sensitive to the additives, hormones and steroids. THAT alone is what makes some people sick!

Fortunately I am not!

You can get them in health food stores or the health food section of supermarkets. Here in the UK they are commonly called linseeds, but are marketed under both names. I don't know what they might call them in Canada.

As much as I love my veggies, I doubt very much that a lack of them in itself would cause kidney failure in people with no history of it. Until there's any hard evidence, I have to go with the idea that if it were a risk, populations that ate primarily meat OR high saturated fats OR lots of protein would have shown this trend. Is there any indication of this? Or any peer reviewed studies? To wait for evidence of contra-indication isn't the most scientific approach, but being on the "safe-side" isn't either, especially when there's not really much to determine the "safe-side" but lore.

Until there is strong indication of this, I will stick with the idea that being obese can ruin your kidneys and do what I can to reduce the risk that way. Veggies make life more interesting and give me nutrients I need. I don't eat them to ward off kidney disease.

The myth that eating high volumes of meat can ruin your kidneys has been disproved multiple times. What is true is that eating lots of meat can overtax kidneys that are already functioning poorly.

Most successful Atkins dieters eat more veggies than most people.

Why do I need to "prove" my personal opinion?
I see many opinions on this forum that go unproven.

My PO is I am living proof of my post!
I have PCOS.
When I eat walmart meat I feel bad and my face breaks out.
When I eat meat from our local farmers; it goes away.
I dont need a study to see that organic meat is better!

You sort of do when you are posting information on a public board. You said, "I agree to an extent that meat is a culprit (if you eat too much).
Meat has too many additives in it!" That's great if you have personal experience eating better food. You do tend to get out what you put in.

However, your face breaking out and feeling bad doesn't equal kidney failure. I have not seen anything indicating that meat or meat-related additives causing kidney problems. I simply asked if you had anything backing up what you said. Apparently, you don't.
