Default Stevia

Hi, judi130!

I was also thinking about Schwarzbein Principle as I really miss my fruit. I'll continue on Atkins till I loose and then perhaps switch.

As about Stevia, yes you can find it in UK, there's a thread on this forum about it.

Godd luck!

Hi Judi

{....lost a few pounds, then had sugar cravings and stopped. } Atkins WOE is a WOL not just for a few weeks. It is re-educating the tastebuds. It is changing habits.

{I thought I was the only one who got such strong urges for sugar products!} That's where I find the Forum is very useful. As sson as you put your internal thoughts on paper it becomes apparent you are not the only one at all. Makes it all so much easier to give up.

There is a lot of information on Stevia/Splenda here on the Forum.
Take care.

Exclamation Just shows you...

I have always believed that the more processed something is, the less it will be beneficial to you. Well, I just snagged this article from another thread:

http://www.mercola.com/2000/dec/3/sucralose_dangers.htm

I may just make the occassional choice to eat plain old sugar on those very special dates rather than wait for Splenda to rot my bod!

Thanks judy130 -

I looked on the Schwarzbein website

www.schwarzbeinprinciple.com

It's great! Thanks for bringing this to my attention as my probem is high blood sugar/type 2 diabetes and this one really tackles the insulin problem.

It's similar to the others (Atkins especially) but really worth mentioning. Thanks for the tip

If you want a natural sweetener available in the UK I have posted information on Ki Sweet, a natural sweetener derived from Kiwi Fruit on the Low Carb Products forum under Somersweet. (It isn't anything like Somersweet), I use it for all my sweetening and baking, it even caremelises like sugar, has no carbs or calories per serving and does not set off any cravings. I agree about chemical sweeteners and can't see the point of doing a healthy all natural diet and then using chemical sweeteners which have health risks.

Cool Phew! Thanks Oddsock

I finally went into the link you posted Oddsock. What an eye-opener. No wonder none of the Health Food Stores in UK will order it for you.

I am glad that I decided to have honey if I really had to have something sweet. I can't have much of it but it is definitely the safest natural sweetener, next to fruit.

Take Care.

Hi Oddsock

I have just replied to the private email you sent me with more info on Ki Sweet. I am not sure what I am allowed to post on here and I don't want to upset anyone as I like this list!

Hi there Cocoabear,

I've just read your bit on Ki Sweet and I'm very interested but I don't know how to e-mail you privately, it's telling me I'm not allowed or something like that. I'm new to this forum so still have to find my way around - HELP! Would like to try some!!

Thanks

Hi Banana
You have to have posted 25 posts before you can use the private emails I think! I am not sure if we are allowed to give out our own email addresses on list but I will post it at the bottom and if it's not allowed I am sure the moderators will remove it, which is understandable. In which case once you have posted 25 messages you can then email me privately if you would like more information. Thanks for your interest, Ki Sweet is becoming very popular now with low carbers and diabetics who want a natural sweetener.

Regards
Cocoabear

Hi Cocoabear,

Please feel free to post the link. Our policy is that links in response to questions are welcome.

We consider it SPAM when the owner plugs in commercials for a product, promote it, etc.

Default Stevia

Has anyone heard of or tried Stevia? I read about it in the Atkins book. It's supposed to be a completely natural product.
This might make it a good alternative to Splenda ...

Has anyone seen or tried this?

Hi Rachel
Stevia isn't legal in the UK due to health concerns. Some people do try and import it but it can be seized by customs and you can also end up paying import duty on the parcel. It has a distinct aftertaste which not everyone likes. Then I am biased as I sell Ki Sweet, so am probably not the best person to reply!

Thumbs up Ki-Sweet : Good

I tried Ki-Sweet and it is good. Very sweet so you don't need much. Looks and behaves just like demarara sugar - only healthier.

Take Care.
