This VERY much depends on which plan you're on (and everybody who's starting out should use a plan) because a lot of people are sensitive to sugar alcohols like they're sensitive to other carbs such as sugar and starch.
Experienced low carbers, for the most part, count sugar alchols by their calorie value. e.g., 1g maltitol is counted as 0.5g carb. The easiest way to do this is to plug the calories, fat, protein and declared total carb grams into the Hidden Carb inspector (nothing else) and hit Calculate. See the quick links over on the right of your screen.
Until you know how the sugar alcohols affect your health and your weight loss, it's best NOT to deduct them, and best not to eat them at all on Induction (the first two weeks while your body adjusts to a low carb lifestyle).
