Default Your Dream Outfit?

Years ago, ('93!), I was a Jenny Craig client. Part of the program was a weekly meeting with your assigned weight-loss counselor. Mine was really good, actually. Anyway, I've never forgotten a question she asked me during one of our sessions, as a means of motivation and visualizing my goal:

Describe your dream outfit that you would like to wear upon reaching your goal?

So I thought I'd ask that of you fellow TDC'ers.

I believe I answered a red leather mini-skirt. Of course I was in my early 30's then. But my answer today is still leather, guess i got a leather thang. lol

Now I would answer, if I can get down to about 160, a sexy, form-fitting A-line black leather dress. Not too short, and not sleeveless (I'll never be able to do sleeveless without surgery) but with a rather plunging neckline and a full zip front. I'll wear it with black hose and boots.

I'd also like to experience just once, wearing a red-carpet-worthy evening gown, but that would have to go along with having someplace to wear it to. I might be able to satisfy that desire just by going and trying some on.

But the leather dress, I want to own.

That's my goal-weight dream outfit! What's yours?

For me, nothing elegant, just some jeans and a plaid flannel shirt. Of course, I can and do wear those now (well, not NOW in the 80 degree weather!), but I would like to be able to buy them in a "regular" store and look fit and healthy in them.

Well... It would have been my wedding dress but as it was 37 years ago, and I gave it to my God daughter for her wedding, then she gave it to her sister for her's and then it was cut up into Christening gowns for various family members, so I've missed the boat.
Just jeans (if my swollen knees have gone down) and a shirt.

Default So many to chose from

As a starter for 10, I have these clothes already in my closet

  • Black velvet fishtail skirt
    grey sucony running jacket
    red evening jacket with rose
    black halterneck bustier
    black silk pencil skirt
    black and white bustier
    old slim jeans
red ankle length red linen skirt
    knee high boots
    Green blouse
    red blouse (spagetti straps)
    pink applique blouse
    red and white spot blouse
Black sheer and velvet dot blouse

This has been an interesting exercise - I knew I was holding onto alot of clothes but wasn't aware it was so many..... There are more - all hanging up suits, tailored trousers - if any of this fits by next March I'll be beaming, if any of this fits by christmas I'll be intersellar!

1.) Body Glove one piece swim suit. I used to rock one when I was in my twenties. It was part neoprene(black) and bright yellow that zipped up the front. Or any swim suit and know I looked hot (yes, skin surgery is probably in my future).

2.) Jeans and white T-shirt...I want to be one of those people that this looks stylish.

3.) Anything that I can just throw on that will actually fit.

I already have a bit of a goth/emo/alternative look, but when I drop some weight, I want to get a bit more daring and creative with the look. Shorter skirts, platform boots, fitted low cut tops with lace and rips and stuff. I just want to be less inclined to fade into the background and instead, have the confidence to wear things that will undoubtedly draw a little attention, without me getting all paranoid that they're looking at me because I look terrible.

I enjoy retro rockabilly clothing always have. But in the 1940's-early 50's all of those type of clothing are so form fitting and tailored perfectly. I want to be able to rock one of those vintage dresses and have it lay smooth and look like it should!

I can't think of a specific dream outfit that I will be able to wear in real life, but maybe I'm not being bold enough in my daydreaming. You made me realize that my fashion daydreams are about what clothes I might have worn, if this hormonal imbalance had not happened to me. I should probably shift my daydreams to what's possible for the future.

I definitely look forward to being able to tuck in a shirt without looking ridiculous. For years I've had to wear things that can be worn untucked and I'm tired of that.

And of course, like everyone, I'd like to be able to shop in the range of normal sizes where there's a real selection.

In my closet, I have this beautiful designer jacket-style top that would look fantastic with the leather skirt that I also have in my closet. Although I did wear the skirt a few times before my weight gain, I have NEVER worn the top. (Bought it thinking it would be an incentive to lose weight, but never did until now.) In reality, I am hardly the designer type, and typically spend frugally on clothing. I'm also normally the simple jeans and t-shirt kind of gal. But, on a wild whim, I bought this top. I've never been able to fit into it, but would sure like to be able to wear it at some point. And, the skirt again, as well. They both patiently await my arrival.

I bought a couple pieces with the same idea -- in the late eighties! Needless to say, they look dated now.

Since I first saw this thread, I've been looking at my stuff and getting more ideas.

I want so badly to wear heels more often...when it won't hurt just cause od my weight.

I also want to wear dresses. And look professional in them.

I have two styles I'm picturing, rather than single outfits. Of COURSE as I said before, i DO want to look better naked, the styles are just 'professional', for my work, and if i were truthful, and this is not popular these days, but ive always wanted to be a housewife. Take care of a home and husband and family, of course, and i havent brought up my gender identity issues here in a long time, but, i havent given up hope on the housewife front, but, i associate that term with a particular style of dress, let's call it 'modern betty crocker'. At my heaviest, if i tried to dress that way, it would have been more like paula deen.
