I just stumbled across a farm here in Colorado that sells Yak http://www.theyakranch.com/ I'm curious, but have never tried it. Has anyone here ever had the chance to try Yak? If so, what was it like?
I'm intrigued that noone's tried it! I'll have to be the first. Ok - I probably won't get around to it any time soon, but I"ll let you all know when I do!

I don't have a problem eating cute things either....unless I have raised them from infancy and named them. ::Sigh:: Looks like I wont be eating duck anytime soon even though I bought dual purpose breeds....
Here are two of my ducks when they were babies... Bebe and Shelley

The eggs are AMAZING. So even though I am too much of a marshmallow to eat my ducks, they still earn their keep. My runner is the only one laying right now, but I have a buff mix that should be laying any time now and Bebe, Shelley and Wendy should be laying by September. A duck egg has a richer bigger yolk than a chicken egg and is about the size of a jumbo chicken egg. Duck eggs RULE!
