Default What do you do for cravings?

I've heard about this L-Glutamine for cravings and was thinking about taking it. Anybody have any luck with it?

It's not even that I just get cravings....if I even think of what I love (wine gums, gummy candies) it gets stuck in my mind and I have to go to the store to buy them. From there I think, well, I've wasted my day already, might as well go for the whole she-bang. Then I eat pizza and old-fashioned donuts.
grrrrrrrrrrrrr!

Yes, L-glutamine has been used by a number of people here and it does work for sweet cravings.

Another thing to do for cravings is: when they hit, immediately eat some protein. I keep leftover meat in the frig as often as possible by cooking too much for dinners. The cravings go away and out of your mind when you eat protein instead. Works wonders.

I was wondering the sane thing about l-glutamine. I often do wonderful throughout the day (just being busy, I guess) then I will wake up at night sometimes and feel hungry. And it doesn't seem to matter how much I eat during the day--so I know it's not because I'm eating too little.

What dosage and when should I take the l-glutamine? My bottle says with a meal--I would think that its best to take it when you have a craving.

Jen

I use the powdered which is much stronger then the pills. You take it twice a day, after workout and before bed. I take it for muscle soreness though not cravings.

What helps me when a craving hits, or I see something I want, is to go online and find an LC recipe for it. You'd be amazed what can be made LC these days.

For gummyworms and such, they do have LC ones. You just have to treat them as you would regular junk food and only have in moderation, and hope your not sensative to SA's

Other things that can help:
Eat something, it could be honest hunger
Drink water, thirst is often mistaken for hunger
Have a nice hot cup of tea, LC cocoa, or broth. A hot liquid can sometimes be extreamly comforting and satisfying.
Do something to take your mind off it, and keep hands busy
Exercise.

I still have yet to have a craving....... I just no longer care to eat the way I did so I really do not miss anything. Not to mention for years and years I was told to avoid eggs, cheese, and not to eat too much meat.

Hell, I craved what I now can eat!!!!!

This is the perfect diet...

Way to go, Max! I feel the same way.
I feel taking CLA helped with my cravings (more info in my journal.)
You have to give yourself the power to think about xx, but then dismiss xx. By letting the mere thought control you, just who is in charge here? Eliminate the physical reasons, but be aware of the mental ones too.

I do one of two things. Eat a sugar free jello/treat or i try to make a low carb version of what I am craving.
