Default Not enough carbs?

I rarely go higher than 10 grams of carbs, and I am on induction. I don't know if I should up my veggies because Dr. A says you shouldn't have more than 2 cups of salad and 1 cup low-glycemic veggies. Is it bad for my carbs to be so low?

Hi Chilidog!

I would say staying under is being than being over but are you eating enough food is my question. Have you tried using fitday to plug in your numbers to make sure you are not getting "hidden carbs" in your plan. Keep in mind that even a lot of proteins have some carbs in them. For example an egg has .6 carbs in it so be sure you are counting all your carbs.

Hmmm... I think that as long as you're making your three cups of veggies a priority, you're okay. Usually, the other carbs come from stuff like cheese and salad dressings, which not everyone likes. Is that how it is in your case?

Like damaraq said, just make sure you're getting enough food overall.

Enjoy!!

We all do things differently - whatever is right for our own bodies, but I'd up your carbs to the 20 carbs per day by upping the good carbs - your veggies. Some people need the fiber (me!) Also remember that some people subtract for fiber, so you also may want to take that into consideration.

I think you are fine with 10 carbs per day if you are taking adequate supplements. Our bodies produce carbs if we don't eat enough so it is hard to undereat them. The extra carbs are used primarily for vitamins and minerals and to add much needed variety to the food plan. I personally would not stay at 10 because it would be too boring for words! Atkin's does not recommend following the glycemic chart. Other low cal food plans do use it. I think Atkin's is restrictive enough on its own that the glycemic chart is redundant. Good Luck! Cindi

Thanks for the tips. I just started using fitday. Here is the link. http://www.fitday.com/WebFit/Public...?Owner=chilidog

Please give suggestions as to what I should add. Also, do we have to record EVERY activity that we do? Oh, and when you measure vegetables, such as broccoli, how do you measure a cup? Is it by ounces, or do you just shove as many as you can into a measuring cup. I know this question may seem stupid, but I am really confused. Thanks for the help.
