Default Dreamfields Pasta - Is It Gone Too

Has anyone noticed that the Dreamfields Pasta is dissappearing off the shelves.
I used to buy it at Farmboy, they don't carry it anymore and I noticed at the Loblaws that I shop at they only seem to have the elbow maccaroni left. Is this another low carb product lost?

I sure hope not but maybe I'll stock up while I can. It's soooo frustrating these days to find anything. I've lost two brands of LC bread the past month. Thanks for the heads up.

In Canada, if it says "low carb" on the package it will be off the shelves next month for good because of the new federal legislation.

Sigh... another good product falls prey to a stupid law!

Here's the really bad news, if it says "carb" (never mind low) anywhere on the label, the advertising or the website -- for pete's sake--, it's gotta go.

The sort-of-good news is that the product doesn't HAVE to go, it's just needing "proper" relabelling.

The question is, do the manufacturers want to bother? Apparently not. Even Saputo/Dairyland, right here in Canada, have trashed their excellent CarbAware ultrafiltered milk with low lactose and higher protein. Despite the silliness of never having even thought (apparently) of a whole wide market out there of the lactose intolerant, hypoglycemics, diabetics and even older people who need more protein and less sugars in their diets and have low appetite. But they buy milk.

Dang, it makes me mad, it's so STUPID business-wise ;( .

I'm mad too IslandGirl.
I've sent e-mails to some of the companies whose products have dissappeared, and I've written to our Government a couple of times and it all falls on deaf ears.
It's very frustrating.

Save on Foods has stopped selling Dreamfields. It was on sale about a month ago, and the clerk told me that the price code meant that they would no longer carry the product. I also noticed it is off the shelf at Super stores. I think it is gone for good.

Lanny:
If you like your Dreamfield Pasta, I would check with your Loblaws store manager and ask if they will be continuing to order it after their stock is all gone. My Loblaws does not stock it anymore.
You might want to pick up on as many packages as you can.

I saw a couple boxes of Dreamfield's spaghetti in the reduced buggy at Commisso's. I guess many of the stores are trying to get rid of thier stock.

A couple of months ago I saw a clearance bin of Dreamfields in Fortinos. I picked up 37 boxes for fifty cents each, but I figured that they were not going to stock it anymore.

Oh poop!

The Sobeys I used to buy this at has marked the shelf to not reorder and is trying to sell the few remaining boxes it has at regular price. However the Sobeys and also Foodland in the city I work in (Woodstock) still both carry it and there is no indication on the shelf not to reorder. They have quite a bit of stock. I'm guessing that low sales affect the decision as much as anything and let's face it we don't have the numbers of people shopping for it as there are in the U.S.Also they don't state "Low Carb" on their product but instead say " Healthy Carb Living" which may not be affected by the new law. Not sure on that. A little off pasta topic, I have noticed though that Dempsters bread has been renamed Bodywise with a note stating the carbwise name is changed to Bodywise. However, there are low fat versions of Bodywise so you really have to read the label. Food Basics has the best price on this.

Actually, the word "carb", low or otherwise, anywhere on the label, website or advertising, is now forbidden...

Talk about overstepping the bounds of reasonability. They're not applying the same standards to carb control as they are to fat control. It's totally unjust.
