Default Carrots and tomatoes

Hi -

just wondering who here eats carrots and tomatoes - they are my favourite veggies but are high in carbs. Does it really matter?

Thanks

As far as I know, Ray Audette the author of NeanderThin eats carrots, tomatoes, 1 to 2 cups of nuts at one sitting, and lots of apples but would you eat as much as he does and still lose weight is another question. Until you hit your ideal weight, moderate your consumption of carrots. Tomatoes are ok.

I throw a few baby carrots into my daily salad along with a half a tomato.

The best thing is to see if your rate of weight loss is good. If not, cut out the higher carb veggies. If you're losing weight, though, there is no reason for deprivation, especially with vegetables.

I eat them all the time. I usually avoid eating large amounts of them, and always eat them with fat/protein and they don't bother me.

I eat them, but not every day.. cavemen may have come across a patch of tubers or fruits (tomato is a fruit), but it wouldn't be every day.

Thank you people!

I am presently not restricting tomatoes and carrots, as I need the extra vitamin A for my acne (yes, it does work, but I have to keep consumption up!). As my primary concern right now is getting off my fruit binges (oh, dear, figs seem to have a hold on me again), I'm gonna keep eating them.

I have also had biotin 'issues' in the past when I did Atkins, and guess what, both carrots and tomatoes contain biotin, as do nuts (but I'm not very good with stopping eating these).

Also, I have been keeping a slightly higher carb consumption (from vegetables), as through trial and error, I have found I really need more carb to have good energy throughout the day, despite the fact I'm not sure I'm gonna lose any on this. This means eating vegetables with every meal - even breakfast (which is tough!).

So I am keeping the carrots and ditching the fruit for now (maybe eat some raspberries though). I have also re-discovered pumpkin and so will be eating more of this. Oh yes, and peas - I love these.
