Personally, I think that real food is better than a shake. I use the shakes when I'm in a hurry and have no choice. Hope this helps!

Why not consider Dr. Bernstein's Diabetes Solution which is low carbing specifically for diabetics. The author is a diabetic who has controlled his sugar levels for years by low carbing. Feel free to visit that section of the board too. You'll find people there who KNOW what LCing does toward sugar management. Welcome to the board.

Good for you, I saw on tv last night a man who discovered how much carb it would take to raise his blood sugar a point and did it on his own in spite of the medical establishment advocating a high carb diet for diabetics. He took charge and proved that what Atkins and others were saying is right. If it works in your experience that is what counts. I am an RN and get so sick of the "god like position" that many MD's take. Go for it. Good luck to you.
