Question Whey and flying!

I'm going away to a conference this weekend, staying in a hotel Saturday night, and thankfully they have a gym (although might change my Sunday & Monday around so I'm only doing HIIT in their gym, depending on what they've got I don't know if they'll have freeweights etc for LBWO and the staff on the phone were useless ) anyways.... I made up a ziplock baggy of vits/ cod liver oil/ green tea capsules for the two days, then made up a ziplock baggy of chocolate whey/banana whey/ l-glutamaine .... and then I thought.... how dodgy does it look going through security x-ray scanning with a ziplock bag full of brown and white powder.......

I'm not exactly a "normal" looking person...... shaved head, beard and large amount of tattoos generally make people (especially security people) mentally sort me into the dodgy pile in their heads, and unfortunately I sure as hell don't look like a body builder (at this moment..... I can dream though! )

Right now I'm sort of worried and thinking about just leaving the whey and sorting out doing HIIT and then straight down for vast quantities of buffet breakfast I'll take the pills though because they look less dodgy.

Has anyone had any problems going through airport security with baggys of supplements?

Whatever you do, when they ask you questions, don't look at them, and make sure you mumble your responses

In all honesty, I wouldn't worry about, if you are more concerned, bring the actual drum of Whey protein and let them stop you. Odds are they won't though..especially if it is in a bag and going in the cargo hold, not the passenger hold.

No problems ever, with all manner of (legal) things and traveling internationally...including whey powder.

In airplane security, they are generally not concerned with baggies full of powders etc. They're more looking out for possible detonation devices/explosives. Could be stupid, possibly, but this is what they do.

To be 100% safe I might carry a label from the protein powder jug and be prepared to eat some of it in front of them. But I really don't think it will come to that.

I wouldnt bother about it at all - if you were stopped then they can easily test the 'powder' to see if it were dodgy ... i have watched enough dodgy 'airport' docu-soaps to know the drill!!!!

Have a good conference - let us know if you get pulled!

I just chickened it and left the whey in the house.... I was only away for one night with hand baggage only so didn't want to take a drum.

Thank goodness I was prepared to just do cardio though.... the "fully equipped gym" in the hotel was some cardio machines (nowhere near as good as the ones in my gym) and some of those multi gym type things.

I just did my HIIT on the eliptical then went and ate a bucket load of breakfast

Thanks guys.
