Default Carb Addicts Diet

Who else is trying Carb Addicts Diet? I am mostly doing it with a little bit of Atkins in the back of my mind. I am trying to have my reward meal be low-carb as well as I really can't seem to think that I can have the real thing then. Some of you have said they have just about whatever they want at reward meal and are losing really well. Can someone please tell me roughly how their day goes so I can see if I'm following it right. I love the plan and would like to do it as correctly as possible. Thanks in advance!

I'm on Atkins and my wife is on CAD... so it's easy for me to compare. Her eating follows the same pricipals as Atkins until dinner, when she has a "regular" carb-inclusive meal with pasta, rice, potatoes, or whatever. She does have to guard against overly large portions at dinner, but otherwise it's going great for her -- she's lost about 18 lbs. in 3 months, with maybe another 5-10 lbs. to go. I recommend you get the book and read it cover to cover. It's another interesting take on low-carb eating with a slightly different philosophy that Atkins.

BTW, congratulations on the 10 lb. loss!

NickFender, thanks for the response. I have the book and have read and reread it but some parts are confusing. I am eating the same as your wife, however, the reward meal gets me because I worry that I can't have that stuff. According to the book and other members, I guess I can. Just knowing that I can have a treat or reward at suppertime keeps me from cheating all day and lessens my cravings because the deprivation is gone. If I really want it, I can have it. Once that thought is in your head, all thoughts of "cheating" are gone. For me, THAT'S A BIG DEAL. I will keep plugging away and trust that something biiger than me is in control of my life. Thanks for your help!

That's part of the reason it works! If you KNOW you can have that potato at suppertime, it's easier to give it up at lunch. A lot of times our eating is an impulse, and if you put it off, more often than not by the time you CAN have it, you no longer want it!

Talk about a good catch22!

Hi all!
I honestly can say that a " reward meal" for me is a mute point. After I tried some Karens Recipe's ,especially the cauliflower (which I freeze in 1/2 cup portions ) I will probably never eat another potato! I feel that the reward meal tends to give the impression of deprivation . For me the rewards are the bread I make with flax seed meal and soy protein, spread with butter and low carb jam warmed in the micro topped with a little cream ,also my own baked custard with "edge" lo carb shake =4carbs-2fibre,2 eggs=2 carbs,4tbs heavy cream + splenda to taste. This makes about 4 1/2 cup desserts.Probably no more than 3 carbs each. Karens hash browns made with daikon radish and a multitude of fabulously well thought out recipes should eliminate the mostly pschycological need for rewards, even on vacation I was not even tempted. Well! thats how I'm dealing with the whole thing anyway! and its working I have lost 7 of the 10lbs I have to lose. It is a good dea to try some recipes rather than just eating the basic meats, eggs ,cheese etc.
Its worth a try eh?
Pippa
