Talking Shirataki Noodles!!!

I am in despirate search for Shirataki noodles .. According to a magazine I read --- they are relatively 0 carbs, and will work with any sauce .. I believe they are tofu based .. but can't find any more information about them, cuz I do a search on the internet .. and it comes up with Shirataki mushrooms, and/or noodles ...

Can anyone send me in a direction ( or as I usually say to my friends .. Tell me where to go?? ) ... to find these !!! ????

PLEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEAAAAASSSEEEE!!!!!!!
Thanks

Sally, I haven't been able to find these anywhere in southern WI.

You can order them from amazon if you're interested.

Do you have any Asian groceries or markets in your area?? I just recently saw some Shirataki noodles at the Vietnamese market near me.

Am I reading the websites right ??? Shirtaki Noodles must be refrigerated??? Maybe THAT'S my problem .. I frequent an Asian store in the Milwaukee area, but I've always looked in the "petrified" noodle section ... ... I just may check the refridgerated section .. and see what they have .. but I truly appreciate the information .. Thank you to all that replied !!!!

I'm also concerned .. has anyone tried these ?? The reviews are stating "fish smell" .. *peeewwwwww* well -- If I can get "A" package .. I can give a try !!

Thanks again !!! Totally appreciated !!!!

Hi Sally,

I buy them in the local grocery - they are next to the tofu kind of things near the veg - long and white and squiggly sold in water in a clear package.

Once I have opened them I store them in a tupperware (in water as with tofu) in the fridge and add about 3 oz at a time to things like stir-fries. I tend to prefer them cool and I add things like rice vinegar, a little chili paste, green onions and soy sauce. I think they are nice! Kind of fresh and clean tasting.

Good luck!

Stacy

I go to the Asian markets in Los Angeles and they have these noodles quite cheap. If you don't have such markets there are Low Carb websites that carry and ship these noodles. I go to Low Carb Heaven in Sherman Oaks, CA and I know they ship these noodles.

If you rinse them, then parboil them in some nice clean water they come out neutral.

You can get them quite cheap there, and on their website http://www.konjacfoods.com/

Whole Foods in Madison might carry them. I'd call first.

Here is a picture of what you should be looking for:
