Can't see any reason why it would be a problem, but unfortunately, I haven't seen any decent research that shows ALA will do anything helpful when it comes to losing weight.
The supplements I'd suggest are a good multi-vitamin, some fish oil (the body won't drop fat if it's not getting enough essential fatty acid), some extra vitamin C (low C is a huge factor in obesity) and a good cal/mag.
