Be sure to put it on paper towel to drain..then it is lean and

hi Mark,

Just a word of caution about those sausage patties ..

In the US, manufacturers are permitted to label something as "0" carbs if a serving has less than 1g carbs. That means one patty could have 0.9g carbs in it, but legally be labelled zero . Now, if you're only eating one patty that's probably not a big deal .. but if you're having 2 or 4 of 'em, those partial carb grams can add up!

Notice the sugary carbs in the ingredients:
Quote:
Pork, Water, Salt, Corn Syrup Solids, Spices, Dextrose, Sugar, Natural Flavorings, BHA, Propyl Gallate, Citric Acid.

Personally, I'd count each patty as 1g .. and maybe not have 8 of 'em at once

I don't care that they say zero carbs..the ingredients list shows several sugars..no way jose. And natural flavorings is another way to say msg - which not all are sensitive to, but I am. Pooey on them!

I buy plain ground pork and season it myself..make wonderful breakfast sausage patties...number of recipes here for this by others, here in recipe forum.

sorry if sounds rushed or *itchy, just realized have to get sick kitty off to vet

As others have already pointed out, these are not really zero carb but they are low carb. The important thing to realize though is that where the carbs come from is what is important. The carbs that are in this product come entirely from simple sugars and that is usually bad news for most low carbers.

Not trying to burst your bubble (sorry) but if we share information, it helps us all.

Your best bet is to stick to fresh whole foods and not look for low carb substitutes for the things that got us here in the first place.

i think i can afford one carb. besides they taste great and one is all i need for breakfast. i use them to make a mikki dees type breakfast sandwich. so yummy and great for when you are on the run in the morning (only takes 30 seconds to nuke).
