Default My plan

((This was intended as a reply to Lioness in another thread, but I apparently hit the wrong button and started a new thread LOL))

My plan:

I will not buy any more cigarettes. This seems like such a simple concept, but it is my refusal to follow this statement that has had me smoking for the last 11 years.

I will not buy any more cigarettes. I keep repeating to myself, over and over, "Who is in charge here?". I have to make a conscious effort to start smoking again. I have to make a physical effort to go to someplace that sells them. Finally I have to make a monetary commitment in the form of buying an entire pack . . . 20 cig . . . for $7 or so. With that much effort involved in re-starting, you would think it would be hard to do.

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

What I am doing instead:

Well, on previous quit attempts, I found that buying a ton of hard candy was useful, but that is no longer an option . . . and going with the sugar-free stuff has a BAD effect on me. So I am going with sugar free gum, both Extra (by Wrigley's) and some dental whitening stuff made by a company called Perfect Smile Corporation. In combination, I am doing a lot of activities to keep my mind off of the cravings. A hard run, I have noticed, makes me completely forget about wanting a cigarette (probably associated with the wheezing that a run causes simultaneously). I am not using Wellbutrin/nicotine gum/patches at all. Wellbutrin requires a prescription (because I refuse to trust drugs over the internet) and the other two are just an alternate source of nicotine, something unneeded when you are looking for an end to your nicotine addiction.

80 hrs down

I am no longer physically addicted to cigarettes. Any craving or longing for smoking is entirely fabricated by my mind. Not only should I be able to willpower through the craves now, I should be able to flush the desires out of my head with Reason.
