Default What is your goal BG?

Please information, type 2, working hard to get my BG down to around 80 as I am inspired to do from reading Dr Bernstein, Been keeping my carbs from 50-100/daily, taking one 500 metformin in am (early because of dawn phenomenon that raise my BG 20-30 before eating anything) So I take my pill and go for a walk first thing in morning. Then at night I take another 500 metformin. But lately BG never below 100. Wondering if I should take more metformin at night say another 250mg. or be happy with what I am getting. My encouragement is my feet are not as numb as before treatment. I am new at this and do other people play around with there pill and BG levels… My doctor seems to go along with what I want, I kind of thing I need a new doctor, but they seem hard to find.

Hi Jan!

I'm currently almost at my goal. I'd like to see my A1C at 5.3. My last was 5.6, so I only have to get it a little lower. My fastings typically run in the 80's and 90's now (without medication) and my doctor is very impressed with the results I've gotten. My other goal (which I've already attained) is to see no more than a 30 point rise after any meal. Tight control is what prevents complications of diabetes.
