Default got lab results back today

A year ago my cholesterol was over 300, my triglycerides were over 300. Everything was bad.

Well, I had my test taken Wednesday, got my result this morning. Cholesterol was 192, my triglycerides were 172! This is a huge improvement for me. My hdl and ldl were great too. I'm so thrilled about this!!

I am anemic which is not uncommon for me. Don't know what to do about it though...

That's great! I've had similarly great results. My non-blood sugar numbers weren't really awful when I started, but now they're pretty great - triglycerides of 61, total cholesterol around 120, blood sugar (which was my real problem) of 65.

Keep it up!

Is your anemia low-iron anemia? There are several different kinds of anemia, that's why I ask. I have pernicious anemia, for example. Just curious. I can give advice is you have pernicious anemia.

uhhhh. I don't know, the nurse just said my hemoglobin is low and indicative of anemia. I didn't know there were multiple types! Any suggestions?

Usually, that just means low iron. The most common kind.

And why cook with cast iron?

I have a pan and a Dutch oven I use sometimes.

I got some multivitamins with iron yesterday so hopefully that will help. I've also heard of the cast iron, had forgotten about it but never knew why it was supposed to help.

You might want to try to figure out what is causing the anemia. It could indicate another problem, like bleeding in the intestines or stomach.

if this was a new problem I probably would but I've had this my whole life. Every time I have gotten a blood test since I was a child they've always told me I'm anemic. I'm taking a good multivitamin now that has iron so hopefully that will help.

Thanks for the post!

because small amounts of the iron from which the pan is made are transferred to your food when you cook in it which can help keep your blood iron levels in a healthy range if you tend to run on the low side.

Right but you can have problems your whole life. Lots of people have small amounts of intestinal bleeding and it is usually for a reason.
