For those who don't have the time to make pate (hand raised over here!), you can make a quick version by whizzing liverwurst, butter, and seasonings in a food processor or blender. We had this for breakfast this morning, along with boiled eggs. It was delicious; everyone from DH to the baby was scarfing it down.
I used about 1 part butter to 2 parts liverwurst, but YYMV; our liverwurst was pretty lean. I also had to add a little heavy cream to get it started. For seasonings, I put in some caraway seeds and thyme, but next time I'll try the ones from the Anthony Bourdain recipe. Cognac would definitely have been welcome.
