My gene test reveals I have 2 gluten sensitivity genes but neither of the main Celiac genes. Something like 95% of celiacs have the main genes. I could be in the 5% or I could just have the same reaction to gluten as a celiac. I was just told I need to be on a gluten-free diet for life and that it was causing damage to my tissues and I had malabsorption (lost 25 lbs.) Its only been 4 weeks since diagnosis but I've already gained back 10 lbs.

The GI said they still dont have all of the scientific data about the genes. There are more genes involved and they don't know them all at this time. He said he cant rule out celiac based on my gene test. I was stressed about all this at first but I was told its all the same no matter what you call it Celiac, Intolerance or Sensitivity. The treatment is the same...no gluten. So technically I don't know if I'm Celiac or not but I have to act as if I am to prevent further damage.
