Default Morning run and food..

SO I have been running every morning about 3 miles up and down hill. I get up slap on my shoes and go and it seems like latey I have had less and less energy and my runs have suffered because of it. I read that you should eat first but wait an hour which I just dont have in the morning. I wonder if any of you grab a snack before your run, and what you grab. Most people I know say grab carbs but obviously that isnt an option for me. I do want more mojo in the morning though. I like to feel strong when I run not tired. Should I take days off? Would love to hear your thoughts.Thanks guys!
