Great article. My only concern is the part about using CRP to determine risk. CRP is elevated when there is ANY inflammation in the body. So if you have arthritis, amoung other things, you can have an elevated CRP and it doesn't mean you're at risk of heart disease.

I've had an elevated CRP for many many many years....the first time I remember having it checked was when I was about 24 (I'm 50 now) and it was elevated because of TMJ (temporal mandibular joint dysfunction). Now it's pretty much permanently elevated due to arthritis in my spine, hip and knee. Being on antiinflamatory meds, (like Ibuprophen, or any arthritis med) will bring it down some, but usually not to "normal" levels.

That being said, I whole agree with questioning the cholesterol-heart disease connection. I also agree people should be treated agressivley if they have had a heart attack or have "real" (as in proven by angiogram) evidence of artery disease.
