I still think that you should start out with phase I for 2 weeks simply to raise up your carb level very slowly before you add in anything else. Also so that you can know how it is that we eat on SB. I still do float between the phases, all 3 of them, to manage my weight.
I find that when people get too far away from the plan because they didn't acutally do a clean phase I, they get into trouble.
