Do you live in the USA? I go to the canned vegetables section of the supermarket and buy regular canned sauerkraut with just cabbage, water and salt. Sometimes I can find Eden Organic Sauerkraut in that section, which I love. It comes in a jar and has a green label. It's pricey but worth every penny. I also get Aldi's jarred sauerkraut, also in the canned vegetable section, if there's an Aldi near you. These all are sugar and vinegar free.

I gave up on the bagged, fermented sauerkraut in the refrigerated fresh deli section in the back of the supermarket because I don't like the smell or taste of it, but that's the real healthy stuff with live cultures that are good for your gut. Many times that "natural" stuff has sugar in it, too, and other nasty ingredients. Blech.
