Cheat to Lose Diet by Joel Marion
While in the library, I found a book called "The Cheat to Lose Diet" by Joel Marion. It's all about harnessing leptin to speed metabolism. Last year, I had a couple of sessions with a trainer at a fitness club. The diet he gave me to follow was very similar to the cheat to lose diet -- eating three meals and two snacks each day consisting of small portions of protein, carbs and fat -- and having two cheat days a week. I was doubtful that I could lose anything with two cheat days so I never really gave it a try. The cheat to lose diet is the same but only allows one cheat day. The premise is that by continually low carbing, the body thinks it is in starvation mode. By having a cheat day once a week, it jump starts leptin and gets the metabolism going. I found on Atkins that I initially lost a lot of weight but now it only keeps me at the same weight.
I'm thinking of giving this diet a try. Has anyone tried it or anything similar to it? Any thoughts about it?
