Make sure to take Dr. Stephen Barrett's articles with a grain of salt, if not suspecion. It seems his opinions on his site (QuackWatch) are based on gut feeling at most, rather than science. If you check other articles, you'll see he's anti- low-carb, and bases his opinions on journalists of USA Today and the like
