If there's a benefit to the vegan diet--much of it is liable to be the fact that it's so restrictive that it's harder to be constantly snacking. Office birthday party? Oh dear, the cake isn't vegan.
This is a good test to see whether associations of meat intake and poor outcomes were due to the meat itself (ha!) or the crud it's often eaten with--the bun, the fries, the breading.
