I've had an unhealthy relationship with food for most of my life. In the past it was fueled by carbs - grains & sugar. After I started eating low carb I STILL overate & binged - but on "healthful" low carb foods - beef, chicken, rabbit, bacon. It took me years to see that this was just as unhealthy for me as eating grains & sugar.

I've been in OA for a long time & while they call over- & under-eating a disease, they don't call it an addiction (tho many individuals in the program do). The disease is an unhealthy relationship with food: Why do I over-eat?

Once I grappled with the "why" I was able to have a more balanced diet with more low carb vegetables & less meat. I still binge on occasion, especially when I'm upset about something, but for the most part I eat abstinent low carb, medium protein, high fat meals.
