I don't see complaining as arrogant or self-centered. I view whining as tedious and annoying, but complaining is sometimes necessary. Otherwise, you can have people running roughshod all over you. It's only when people start speaking up that abuses come to light and can be corrected. Like pay to play, unethical quid pro quo, workplace sexual harassment, kickbacks, deceptive or false marketing claims... just to name a few. I now feel that I HAVE to speak up when I find out about stuff like this. I "let it slide" for many years, using a variety of justifications. No more. I have to call people out when they abuse; to not do so allows them to keep doing bad things without consequence.
