But what would you say to the fact that people in the same household are subjected to the same surroundings. At some point it is the environment we live in too.

Consider this if you had done low carb throught your life would you still get diabetes type 2 just because you have the gene and what abt all the people who cure their diabetes t2 with changing the lifestyle or the environment.

I am not saying that there is no genetic factor what I am saying is that just because it is in the gene doesnt mean doom and gloom. You always have the chance to change the environment.

There has been so much of research into gene expression, environment can also dictate how a gene will be expressed and there are always multiple copies of the same gene.
