Once upon a time this past year before I got pregnant (LOL) I was successfully dropping weight with a really healthy portion of fat intake along with protein. I'd have to review the numbers and did post them in our high fat thread that was all the rage for awhile, but as I recall I was easily still hitting my approximatly 100g protein per day (probably ranging between 75 and 125, hitting the higher end most days. I felt great and felt justified because I was also weight training. I was sated and craving free, for the most part. It worked for me. But all I know is that no matter where I decided to land in terms of fat intake, I will keep my protein in check because I believe in it. And I've also found that with the exception of a crazy day where I go to a steak house and stuff myself, that I don't tend to overeat protein if I'm doing so intuitively. (Maybe it's overeating according to charts and other nutritional approaches, but not to me and not according to PPLP.)
