Default BG Monitoring for the non-(yet)-diabetic

I used to sell the darn things... should'a kept one when I quit.

Had an office health fair BG test last week and scored a 120, which is higher than I thought it should have been after an egg-only breakfast. So I'm pondering what my range is. Saw monitors for almost free at Sam's Club last night but I know they make it back on the strips; didn't ask about the cost of the strips which are behind the counter, presumably.

Also know that there's a lot of variability in the meters, esp. at the lower ranges, such that one meter's 120 could easily be another's 110, depending on when they were calibrated, and I'm not sure it's all that relevant at the lower ranges.

Anyone do on-going BG monitoring who is not a diagnosed diabetic? For the record, I had my HgA1C tested last year at my annual and it's fine--5 something.
