According to my gas guy, the burner probably needs "tuning". I usually (wait until it's cold and) take the cap off and make sure the burner openings are clean and the underside of the cap is clean. I use a small brush and then a damp rag. If it's still a large-ish yellow portion on the flame, might be time for the checkup/maintenance call.
