Eat Fat Get Thin

I was wondering if anyone has tried this diet, I have been on it for 4 weeks and am gaining weight although it says that you don't have to count calories, I was wondering if anyone else has had this problem, I keep my carbs around 30 a day but do eat about 3000 calories a day also, I hate the thought of having to go back to counting calories and enjoy being able to eat my fill of fat.

Unlimited calories don't work for me either. I've tried very high fat, very low carb diets and also gained weight.

As far as counting calories, what's your objection? I can understand not wanting to give up fat, but counting calories isn't that bad. You figure out some meal plans, find some decent snacks and treats, and then there really isn't that much bookkeeping involved. Every now and then I check my portions against a diet scale to make sure I'm not going overboard.

And the way I figure it is, once I'm done losing weight, I'll go back to eating more fat.

Thanks Nancy for the advice, I guess I'm just gonna have to bite the bullet and count the stinkin calories, I have been eating between 1200 and 1500 after I realized I was gaining weight instead of losing it and you're right its not that bad I just really enjoyed being a pig. I even went so far as only eating about 10 carbs a day but was still gaining with the 3000 calories. I have about 30 lbs. to lose so will try and be a good little girl also till I have this weight off.

Good luck to you!

I think that the creators of lc diets say don't count calories assuming that you will eat less because protein fills you up and fat satisfies you. I think they say that just to sell the diet. Calories matter, but reducing carbs is to control cravings I believe.

bjbrand,
I see we have similar goals. 3000 cals was probably too much for you, but going too low could be a recipe for disaster. Previously I cut back to 1200-1400, but was feeling deprived & went off plan. This time I've been eating ~1800 cals/day and lost steadily to goal without ever feeling deprived or frustrated or like I was even on a diet. Most of what I eat is real food, ~100g protein (25%), ~100g fat (65%), ~30g carbs minus fiber (10%).
