does splenda in powder form have an expiry date?

karen:

do you know if splenda in the powder form has an expiry date? i just used some this morning in my americano & it tasted absolutely bitter :( the packets were relatively old (from my pre-pregnancy days), probably on the order of a year & a half. i don't have the original box they came in, so i don't know if there was an expiry date stamped on there.

I just checked a box of the pourable and there is no expiry date on it. No expiry date on Sugar Twin either.

It makes sense that the maltodextrin would break down due to exposure to heat and moisture though.

Maybe your 'buds have changed?

well, the packets have just been sitting in my purse since i bought them (i was using them before, i just had them all in a baggie). now that i think about it, they were more like 2 years old. our place tends to get quite warm, so maybe it did break down a bit. i've used sweet & low (i think that's what starbucks carries) & the granular form of splenda, & i was fine with them. the coffee was so bitter it was undrinkable  i'll toss the rest of them.

I used to carry liquid Stevia in my purse. It seems to stay the same with age!
