Vegan low-carber

Hi, Glad to find this site. I'm completely new to low carb. I have been a vegetarian for about 6 years and a vegan for 1 year. So far, the cost for food has been quite hefty and I'm not sure what I will do when berries are not so easy to get! On the other hand, I have had plenty to eat so that I'm not HUNGRY! And I'm learning to cook. I never really liked to cook because, when I was (always) counting calories, a good outcome for a dish just made me more tempted to overeat! Now, I can eat til full and eat again as soon as I'm hungry.
Some of my favorites are kale chips (google this) and unsweetened Almond milk. Just made the cauliflower mock potato salad on Dana Carpenter's web site. All recipe.com has a recipe for vegan mayonaise, which I used in this recipe.
Ordered two vegan (actually they are just vegetarian) low carb books and I"m eager to get cookin'!
Love the site and hi to you all.
Joli

A quick question... does anyone purchase a vegan low carb protein powder? I'd like to buy some of this. Thank you.

Congratulations, I'm very interested in how you do! As for a vegan LC protein powder, I haven't come across any -- just vegetarian ones made with soy -- but maybe a google search will help?

i am pescatarian, but hopefully i can help.

i would check out hemp protein powder- i have not had it myself, though so i can't vouch for taste.

in your smoothies, you could also add a large spoonful of peanut butter or almond butter- also flaxmeal is a nice add in.

when berries are out of season, we buy frozen unsweetened ones ;)

ETA: you can even throw a chunk of silken tofu in your shake for a nice protein hit.

Best option when I was vegan was using soy protein powder and then throwing in cinnamon and baking cocoa and then throwing in a sweetener of choice when mixing it (trivia or liquid splenda, etc.)

Soy isn't that great, its mostly GM and a very bad farming methods are used for it. Pea Protein and Hemp Protein are amazing!

Oh man, I've tasted both of those and they were foul.
