Any Post menopausal women still get hotflashes?

Hi I guess I am curious to know if any lady over the age of menopause still gets hotflashes. I have to confess I do and have to take lecithin and vitamin E to control it

Yes I do. Every day and night. They seem to wax and wane. Sometimes I think they're getting less frequent or intense and then they'll hit me again. Looking forward to them maybe going away some day!

When I drink hot stuff and booze I tend to get a power surge. :)

Since I've lost all the extra padding, I haven't had a hot flash or night sweats in months...

I get the occasional hot flash, altho its rare and no more night sweats. However, I remember talking to my 85yo mother in law about them once and she said she was still getting them, 30 years after the menopause!!!!

Is it hot in here or is it just me?

I hear ya. I am 7 years past the onset of menopause and I get the flashes every day. And living in Florida does not help! I have been told by my Dr that I may have them for the rest of my earth bound days. I'll tell you I think my Husband has it worse than me. I will tell you that as I lose weight they are less severe. Good luck and hopefully they will subside for you.

Last year trying to break a stall, I experimented with stopping my HRT. I got hot flashes again. The stall kept on going. I added back my HRT and now have no hot flashes.

I had surgical menopause almost five years ago (at 54, so about the right time anyway) and I still get hot flashes, but they're nowhere near as strong or as frequent as they used to be.

I had surgical menopause 20 years ago and only the first 5 years did I have hot flashes. For the past 15 years and now, I only get them VERY occasionally. Booze will definitely bring them on for me, and that's eliminated on my current WOE.

Mine have pretty much faded to a memory, although I will still, occasionally get night sweats.

Nothing like in Jan, though, when I had them every night d/t pneumonia.

I never really did have much in the way of hot flashes, mostly just periods of feeling too warm or waking up feeling too warm, but nothing to really complain about. After I went into menopause 16 years ago at age 50, I haven't experienced much of that at all, just ann occasional feeling that I'm a bit warm and I have to get out from under the covers on the bed for awhile. Then after a bit I'll realize it's fairly cold in the room and I'll start to feel that. I've actually experienced this a bit more lately, so I wonder if it's due to having less fat on me!

in answer to the topic question YES!!!!

Yes, I do! This has been going on for about the last 10 years since peri-men. I wonder if it will ever end. I am now firmly post-men but they just keep coming. The frequency and severity are less now, but I still get night sweats too if I don't crank down the A/C at bed time. This is a serious bummer!

However... I have found some reliable triggers that I try to avoid. #1, biggest trigger is SUGAR! Go figure. The thing I love most in the world. It's the root of all my misery! #2 trigger is any kind of soy or soy protein. I know soy seems to help some, but it does the opposite for me. #3 trigger is getting warm, which is impossible to avoid living in the South (thank god for A/C!). #4 trigger is fat loss. I notice that if I start to lose weight, the flashes increase and get worse. Maybe it's the aftermath of releasing stored estrogen in fat that is the culprit. It's the only time I'm glad so see the flashes.

Hoping someday it will pass - or I'll move to a colder climate - whichever comes first!
