Pride goeth before a fall

I like writing this down, it makes me think out the lapse. This one was because I was proud I hadn't eaten for 7 hours. Then out of boredom I went into the 99cent store because its next to the library. I bought something that looked like chocolate with a defective microscopic label in a tiny, cute glass jar, in with the peanut butter. I mention peanut butter because you could extrapolate that it was something healthy.

With my glasses on at home I could read Hazelnut Spread with Cookie Crumbs. I ate the whole thing per my old eating habits, telling myself I was getting rid of the temptation. It didn't taste good, something like water with sugar in it. My stomach was sick for hours. It brought on terrible cravings for a fish burrito. Prompting me to seriously consider getting out of bed in the middle of the night to get a burrito. Why pass up the chance to get 2 cheats per one confession?

So to summarize: pride, bored, hungry, grocery store, couldn't read label excuse, tempted by a cute jar, binge-lying to myself, sick, cravings, guilt, confession, back on plan!

I think I'm an honest person, look how many lies I told myself.

Since you mentioned 99cents stores it made me think of the time I was starving for lunch and I found everything I needed there. I found a pkg of turkey and also ham, jar of pickle spears,(made roll ups) bag of pork rinds, small bag of tree nuts not peanut which is a legume. They also have small servings of cheese there.

That's really brilliant Meme! I've never heard of tree nuts before, the pickle spears are sounding good to me.

Tree nuts are Walnut, Pecan, Brazil or almond etc.

A peanut grows underground and is the root of a peanut plant.

By the way those roll-ups are great anytime!

Here is a roll-up recipe I was given many years ago includes:
a slice of deli meat
cream cheese, thin layer
Green onions diced and a few sprinkled
Roll up meat and slice into cross sections
Like a sushi

Thanks for explanation (tree nuts are nuts that grow on trees :D ) and the recipe. I have all the ingredients but the g. onion.

I love to make those deli meat roll-ups both ways and then bag them for quick transport on the run...

I prided myself on being an honest person, too. Then I got into OA & found out I lied to myself all the time! Amazing how we can fool ourselves - but not really. I think I knew I was lying to myself & that ratcheted up the anxiety - which called for more food.

I've got a lot more honest self-talk going on now - makes me feel a lot better. :)

I had never had roll-ups until someone (who isn't doing low carb) brought some made with pickled asparagus to a pot luck. Love at first bite! :yum:

That's really cool Bonnie! I didn't realize I really told myself eating a tempting food is getting rid of the temptation, no it's caving into temptation.
