Willpower and Fear

Hi, I have the Carbohydrate Addict's Lifespan Program on my bookshelf. I read it and all the descriptions of a carb addict look like me. I am seriously considering giving it a chance. However, I am afraid that I will not be able to stop eating after the one hour mark for the reward meal. Have you found this to be a problem? Also, how much willpower does this require? If I start off using willpower to stick to the rules will my body adjust and eventually stop wanting to overeat carbohydrates? Do the urges ever go away?

Please share any tips or advice.

hi-
I have been on this plan for more than 10 years. In my experience if you BALANCE the meal with 1/3 protein, 1/3 veggies and 1/3 carbs it's fine. I try to always start the meal with a salad, then have the plate divided into thirds. I never try to eat for the hour- that is not the goal. It's a limit not a goal to eat for an hour.
I do eat the 2 CMs of protein and veggies before too (I usually have the RM for dinner).
Welcome to this site- please come and read lots of posts on the HOUR POWER thread, and please tell us more about you. We are here to support you and help!

10 years!! That is great. That is my dream. To find a plan that I can stick to forever. I realize that the one hour rule is a limit not a goal; I just hope my body understands that :)

I will jump over to the HOUR POWER section.

Yes, your body will adjust. Even if you "go crazy" in the beginning and eat everything you want for an hour, your body will soon adjust and you'll find you won't need/want to eat as much food. Eventually, you'll start craving nutritious foods (although I still fit in a few goodies during my hour).
If you start craving, there are ways to reduce your cravings by what you eat during your hour (i.e. increasing your protein) and other "tricks".
Hope to see you on the Hour Power thread. Lots of good info and troubleshooting there.
