Victoria April get-together

Hey gang! It's almost the middle of April and no-one has started a get-together thread!

Just to get things started, I'm available from now until the 21st, then from the 26th to the end of the month except no Tuesday or Wednesday lunches.

IslandGirl Sun, Apr-11-10 23:34

My schedule's pretty open thus far, Glenda dear...

You might try posting in the US Local Support Groups forum... ;)

Right now I am heading to the hospital every day after work. Mum's still there and is likely to be for a while longer. She's stablized finally, just weak and off balance for walking.....

Go ahead and plan without me and I will be there if I can.

Miss y'all, Julie

Would Monday, the 26th work for lunch? I could come over that day.

GlendaRC Mon, Apr-12-10 23:13

Right now, Monday the 26th lunch works just fine for me! It's been too long Janet!

Julie, did I miss a posting about your mom being in hospital? Do you have my email addy? In case you don't, I'm sending you a PM so you can let me know how things are going. In the meantime, please pass on our best wishes.

May 26th for lunch works as long as it's downtown as I will be at work that day.

As a thread jack update - Mum is home and settling in. She's struggling and I don't think she should be there but there's nowhere else right now....

I think Karma is out to get me right now - a water main ruptured under my house yesterday. My crawlspace flooded and lots of stuff got soaked. There wasn't much that isn't salvageble - a few board games and books. Almost everything was in plastic bins (aren't I a smart one?). A few things are damaged but should be ok. Plumber and restoration services are coming back today to continue repair and clean up.

Thread jack over - hope to see you all next week.

hi, everybody, I'd love to come for lunch on Monday. If it's at Olive Gdn or someplace close by, that works for me but will check my sked at work..

Sorry about your troubles, Julie. Sounds like you're coping well under the circumstances.

Mousesmom Tue, Apr-20-10 14:27

Olive Garden is the one at Royal Oak, right? If so, I can't do that on a lunch hour.

So far so good Anny! The crawlspace is now dry and the stuff is back in it.

The guy should come pick up the fans today so I will be able to lock the door again.... Now it's time to deal with insurance - two companies, one for strata and one for personal loss.

You certainly are! That's a lesson we had to learn the hard way. We have a storage room at U-Haul on Queen St and when the dive shop at Queens and Douglas had a fire, the firemen hosed it down from the U-Haul roof with the result that there was a ton of water in the storage rooms, especially the bottom floor where our unit is! Lost a lot of old magazines and collectibles literature, plus loads of modern postcards (no great loss monetarily, but a helluva mess to clean up!) Everything on the bottom is now in plastic tubs.

Still have to hear from Steph & Jude as to which location might suit them better!

I sure hope you manage to get your mom settled into a good facility that meets her needs (even if not her wants!) without too much delay. Obviously, she shouldn't be home alone and it gets horrendously expensive to have full-time care for her! Well, if anyone knows their way around the medical system, it should be you!

Hello poppets!

Julie...sorry to hear about all your troubles! :(

Lunches during the week don't work so well for me right now...so count me out this month! xx

Mousesmom Thu, Apr-22-10 12:49

Mum was seen by long term care again yesterday and was moved up the list...so far so good.

Any decision on lunch Monday yet? Sorry Steph can't join us!

Julie
