Rice on paleo
I know some allow it, some don't. What do you think?

IMO, it depends on your tolerance and your reason for staying paleo(ish). If it's just for weight maintenance (like you ;) ) it's probably fine. I have some once in a blue moon, maybe at a restaurant, but I don't bring it in the house anymore. It's too easy for me to waaaay overdo it.
If you're trying to avoid inflammatory conditions, T2D, etc; it's not ideal and could still trigger arthritis flare-ups, etc. It's probably the least-bad grain, but still a grain. |

The rules of a plan mean nothing if they don't work for us. I try to remember that none of us can get away with anything. There is no magic zone where the carbs magically vanish. Paleo is more of a mindset, because we are not in that era. We can only guess. The guiding principle is to avoid processed food, and choose items with high nutrition. Rice loses on both counts. |
I appreciate your great replies ladies! <3

Well stated. Similar to how I feel and I treat rice accordingly. It's a starchy grain that has nowhere near the negative effects that wheat has on me, but I treat it with respect and occasionally indulge in rare cases when eating Asian cuisine. I keep it one and done because I, too, would be inclined to overdo it. |
