Buffalo Style Chicken Wing Sauce Carb Count?

Hi,

I have this bottle of hot Buffalo Style Chicken Wing Sauce by ENCORE that I'm wondering if I can use, but it has no nutritional info on the bottle. The ingredients listed are: Red peppers, vinegar, artificial butter flavouring (?!?!?!), hydrogenated soybean oil, salt, xanthan gum, lecithin, beta carotene. Would love to add buffalo wings to my diet :P Thanks!

I'd shy away from that sauce mainly because of the hydrogenated oil that's in it, and the artificial flavoring which could have carbs lurking in it.

A really, really simple and cheap hot wing sauce is the following:

1/4 c. Red Hot Sauce (or any type of hot pepper sauce like "Crystal" whatever brand you can find -- not Tabasco)

2 T. Butter

1/2 tsp. garlic powder

Heat in a small saucepan, whisking together well, and pour over deep-fried or broiled wings.

I like to toss the cooked wings in this and set them under the broiler for a few minutes to "set" the sauce.

1 carb for the whole batch of sauce.

There are some good commercially-sold wing sauces in the grocery store. I used to use Texas Pete but it's got 2 carbs per T according to the package. So I switched to the Hooters sauce you can buy in a jar. Probably not the best stuff on earth (hydrogonated oils and all that, I'm sure) but it's listed as 0 carbs. Wings are such a great food for this diet!

Hotter sauces have a little more carb then the mild, mostly because of the peppers I think. Email the company though to get thier specific information. There doesn't appear to be any sugar or starch in that ingredient list, though the hydra- oil is bad overall health wise. I'd guestamate around 2g Carb if it's spicy.

Thanks everyone!! I already emailed the company, but will try to make my own sauce... but in reality, I think I'll probably end up getting it at Hooters (not the greatest cook, but that recipe looks foolproof) :P Thinking of also making BBQ sauce from some recipes I've found on here (plus liquid smoke). Its much easier to do this diet now that I'm at home so I can make my own food (started my induction right before a sudden vacation of all times).

Thanks to you....I'm having hot chicken wings for dinner tonight! And to think I originally bought those wings to use as crab bait.
