Yes, why do people trust gurus over science? I'm going with the science and the doctors on this one!

I trust the low carb docs that are gurus!!!
THe GOOD researchers can weed thru the good and bad studies that are published. Just because a study is published DOESNT mean it was a GOOD study. Long ago, I used to sit in on brown bag lectures at a notable research facility. The PhD candidates presented their research project. The audience of notable PhDs/ MDs and other grad students could critique the project, offering their insight and pointing out weaknesses and strengths of the study in progress. All very amicable. One of the PhD's was on the review board for a respected journal-- he read and then wrote up a critique. One that is not open to the public. Was enlightening to type these up for him. We need to be aware of the strengths and weaknesses of any study--- and how to then use the information. Poking fun in humor IMO destroys the trust in the valid information. |
Gurus dispense important information in a simple way. For those without any scientific training, the information can seem more compelling that way.
Like any skill, it can be used for good or evil. I like scientific gurus too! |
