Anyone reached goal weight using CAD here?

Anyone reached goal weight using CAD here?

I had trouble with the reward meal. Day one, good. Day two, cravings after dinner reward meal. I cannot have a reward meal two days in a row. Otherwise I liked the plan.

Ive not made it to goal on any plan.

I didn't follow cad but their next plan - calp, and I got within 6 pounds of the goal I had set with my doctors. It took me 4 years, but I lost around 216 pounds. For me, calp is a blessing.

best wishes to you.

hi-
I've been on CALP since 2003-and I am below my goal. In fact I'm at my high school weight now. Lost another 15 pounds this year.
I never go off plan, and have old posts that you can read.
I find this a great way to eat- two meals that are no carb (or close to it) and one meal with protein, veggies and carbs.
For example tonight I had a large salad with half an avocado and homemade vinaigrette, sauteed peppers and chicken breast, and a small champagne mango for my carb.
Hope this helps-
E

Bumping this. Hoping more than one person has had success to share.

I think CAD (have never read CALP) might be good for people who AREN'T carb addicts. But for true addicts, particularly sugar addicts, it would be like telling an alcoholic about a plan that includes reward shots. Perhaps after a person make a close examination of the types of foods that are their particular triggers, it would work fine. But given the risks associated with figuring out what your specific triggers are....

Well this is a YMMV issue. I have been VERY successful on CALP (which you haven't read)- on it for 18 years and have maintained my weight loss.
I eat very little sugar- but I love that nothing is forbidden- and this plan works for me. As I said, this is an individual/personal choice and we can chose different paths.
Knowing you are very sensitive to sugar as a trigger, and are trying to manage your insulin and diabetes, this may not be the best plan for you.
Best of luck on your chosen plan-
E

Turns out I have read CALP (didn't recognize the acronym at first, but it's the one that's sitting on my shelf). Note that I said right off the bat that I think it may be a good plan for people that aren't true addicts, which it sounds like you (very fortunately) are not. That "reward meal" and the ability to not have to take anything off the table entirely makes it potentially much more sustainable -- for people that aren't true addicts.

My only problem with it is that I think it is poorly named. It's a good plan for everyone except those whom the name implies it is intended for. But I imagine the name had more than a little to do with marketing over intent.

I would consider trying it if there were more first hand account success stories on here.

Do you have specific concerns that are holding you back from trying it?

What are your goals? From your stats, it doesn't appear to be weight loss.

Muscle gain, fat loss, overall health.

Have you looked at Body For Life? That would seem to be a good match for your goals. It's not low-carb, but is reasonably low-carb adjacent, particularly if you take into account the added exercise involved. I'm speculating a bit here, but I think you could adapt it's eating plan to be reasonably compatible with CALP (or most other low-carb plans, including Atkins, that allow for additional carbs in conjunction with additional activity levels).

Someone remind me - what does CALP stand for?
