Restarting my food log

Thanks to the inspiration of another thread ("What are the signs you're slipping from maintenance?") I've restarted my food and activity log over at Fitday.

NOT PAYING ATTENTION is one of my signals. Like if I don't notice, it isn't happening? A food log brings me to reality. How many nuts are you really eating? Do you think you should be having wine every day? At this stage of the game, shouldn't you be more careful about carb creep--and even calorie count?

All these things show up on the log and hold me accountable.

In addition, I'm going to try out a technique to boost my walking workouts: that is, short sprints interspersed with the fast walking. I did it this morning, and I have to say I don't like it. But I can feel the difference, and maybe this (along with the log) will be helpful in dropping those pesky last ten lbs.

I'll let you know.

Best wishes to all.

Absolutely! Although I must say, I have come to really love MyPlan and I've used them both.

Good decision Barb!
Where is the thread you speak of? I could use some inspiraton to start up a food log too. ;)

I had to take some action a few weeks ago when I was stuck at my danger zone weight(155) where I take serious action. I took a hard look at what I was eating each day and saw how my nightly dark chocolate had become an issue for me. :o oops!
The whole concept of me being a food addict and needing "more"....really hit home for me as I was watching OWN's Addicted to Food show.
Each night I'd break off a few squares...and then another few squares....and you get the picture.
After I'd finished all the chocolate in my home, I have not replaced.
I need to stay on top of these kinds of things all the time...its just the way it is with me now. :)

The thread I referred to is probably Johnasafta's thread about "best reaction to weight loss."

That's where I listed some of my personal "danger signals"--and promptly decided to listen to myself!:nono:

I practice another religion in my life, but the parallels between that one and the "low-carb religion" are endless--"Repent" being one of the biggies.

A very important decision. Likewise, not having the big plastic tub of almonds from Costco in the cupboard is a big step towards not reaching into it several times a day. Even though nuts and even chocolate are "good for you" there has to be a limit--a limit hard to establish and hard to maintain without decisive action.

Best wishes.

Why don't we start up a maintenance food log thread?! That way, not only will we be accountable to each other, but it would also be great to see how each of us tackles maintenance, what we actually eat etc.
